Farming Practices
Will Bucklin is the steward of one of California's most cherished vineyard sites, the Old Hill Ranch in Sonoma. Many of the vines here were planted in the mid 1880s; A mishmash of dozens of varieties that still generate stunning, concentrated fruit every year. There is a handful of Grenache vines planted in this vineyard, and Will separates the best bunches for this single-variety wine, his smallest-production cuvee (~75 cases). The 2023 is a monumental wine. Powerful tannins not typically associated with the variety create an intensely-structured wine. Dark berry fruit and baking spice and brilliant, almost Italian-esque acidity. This wine will evolve for decades.
