The grapes are sourced from vineyard sites 350 meters above sea level in the valley of the Neuquen river. Fresh acidity and minerality make this a Burgundian style pinot noir with a bit more body.
The entire Jelu project was sprearheaded in 2002 by British Master of Wine Angela Muir, and her leadership has created a winemaking environment that brings out the best of the Argentinean terroir. In a short amount of time some of their vineyard have already been recognized as a potentially world class site for wines and the entire project was created to promote the uniqueness terroir of the Zonda Valley and the growing conditions of Patagonia.
Jelu, from the native Huarpe Indian language meaning sun, comes from the lesser known winemaking region of Patagonia, Argentina. The vineyards are planted in the valley of the Neuquen River, and only the best grapes are hand selected for their Pinot Noir. Led by British Master of Wine Angela Muir, her winemaking team has created an environment that brings out the best of the Argentinean terroir. While Patagonia is best known for it's breathtaking landscapes, recent investment has been made in creating world class vineyards. This Pinot Noir has a little bit of everything, balanced flavors, good acidity, smooth tannins and a really nice finish. This wine would pair well with plenty of foods including roast pork or chicken, but it very approachable on it's own.
